About

Osaji Chinedu George is a multidisciplinary artist exploring the dimensions and fragility of memory. His work considers the politics of belonging, the negotiation of power, and the existential tension between the state and indigenes of Nigeria.

Osaji draws inspiration from the mythologies of his ancestral land in the Niger Delta. He is interested in the ways memory is perpetuated through collective and personal engagement – the songs of our mothers and stories of our fathers. With a visual language rooted in deconstruction and surrealism, he navigates the intersections between personal and shared experiences, highlighting the ways they shape our understanding of our place in the world.

He was nominated for the MYMA Art Prize in 2026, selected as a finalist for the ART X “Resonance” residency prize (2025) and shortlisted for the Prince Claus Seed Award (2025). His work was also recently shown in the duo exhibition “Then I Remembered A Charm” at SOTO Gallery in 2025.

Osaji holds a B.A in Creative Arts from the University of Lagos and and his work is held in esteemed collections around the globe. Group exhibitions include “SKETCH” (Alliance Française de Lagos, 2025), “Between Fragments” (Yenwa Gallery, 2025), “Africa Foto Fair” (Cote d’Ivoire, 2024), “At Once, Then Again” (Rele Gallery, 2023), “ATO Connects” (Art Twenty One Gallery, 2020), and “Impart Art Fair” (Lasmara, 2019).
